Accessibility Statement

Babypercentiles should be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, or need reduced motion. We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and treat accessibility as part of shipping rather than an afterthought.

Measures in place

These are concrete steps built into the site:

  • Keyboard operable. The chart tool is an ordinary form: every control is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
  • The chart is never the only way to read a result. Every plotted point is also printed in a data table beneath the chart, with the age, the measurement, the percentile, the z-score, and which reference was used, so nothing is locked inside a graphic. The chart itself carries a text title and a written description of what it shows, and results are announced in a live region as they appear.
  • Sufficient contrast. Text, chart lines, and interactive controls are designed to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios in both the light and dark themes, and the reference bands are distinguished by line weight and dash pattern as well as by position, not by color alone.
  • Reduced motion. We respect the operating-system prefers-reduced-motion setting and suppress non-essential animation for visitors who ask for it.
  • Readable on small screens. Wide data tables scroll horizontally inside their own region rather than being cut off or forcing the page sideways, and other wide content reflows into a single column.
  • Semantic structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks, lists, form labels, and descriptive link text so assistive technology can navigate them.

How we check

Before the site goes live and as we ship changes, we run automated and manual accessibility checks against the WCAG 2.2 AA rules, and a serious or critical issue blocks the release. Automated testing does not catch everything, so we also walk the site by keyboard. Accessibility is ongoing work: guidelines and our content both evolve, and we may not have caught everything.
